The Samsung LN46D550 is a Hit

The Samsung LN46D550 is an LCD HDTV and is considered Samsung’s best.  One of the great things about this millennium is technology.  We have progressed forward by leaps and bounds, enjoying electronic devices and equipment that were classified as fantasy in sci-fi movies, as little as 50 years ago.  With HD (High-Definition) channels and movies available, it only makes sense to buy a large, flat-screen HDTV, especially if you prefer watching new movies with a home theater, rather than going out to the show.

With the four HDMI (HD Media Interface) outlets that the Samsung LN46D550 has, it is possible to view anything you like from a variety of components, without the excess cables, since HDMI delivers the best HD video, as well as the highest quality audio.  Feel free to hook up your cable, DVD, iPod Touch, Blu-ray disc player, gaming system such as PS 3 and Xbox, Wii and more.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

When viewing on the Samsung LN46D550 flat-screen, it will seem like you are actually in the scenes.  The images are realistic; the colors are pristine.  It is the 1080p full HD resolution that is responsible for the clarity and crispness of the picture quality.  With ConnectedShare™ you can access your music playlist, videos and pictures on a user friendly interface, all via the remote.  The technology of AllShare™ offers the ability to bring media files from any of your other connected equipment directly to your TV.

Great Bass in the Sound System

SRS (Sound Retrieval System) establishes an immersive 3D sound field, using two 10-watt speakers.  The SRS TruSurround HD emulates a good surround sound audio system on the Samsung LN46D550, even though the speakers are only 10-watt TV speakers.  Unlike most TV speakers that have a cheap, metallic sound, the TruSurround provides a good equalizer and fine, rich bass.

There are a few preset settings on the equalizer; however, you can adjust it by frequency on the full-screen equalizer in the menu.  Additionally, this model also features Dolby Digital plus, as well as support for MTS (multi-channel sound) and SAP (Second Audio Program) which has a capacity of up to 181 channels.

Choose Your Game

Samsung LN46D550 has a feature in the ‘game mode’ that turns off a majority of the picture process, which allows for quicker image processing response.  For fast-paced video game systems or online gaming, this helps gamers to achieve better performance.  The game mode will also sharpen the picture and enhance the dark areas, thus optimizing the gaming systems.

HDTV Receives Positive Reviews

As with any product on the market, you will find negative reviews; however, the customer reviews from those who actually purchased this TV were extremely consistent and positive regarding the picture quality on the Samsung LN46D550.  Crisp, awesome, clear and exceptional were a few of the adjectives that were repeatedly used by consumers commenting on the overall quality.  The majority of consumers also seemed to appreciate the quality of sound, although one or two were displeased.  The price for the Samsung LN46D550 is very affordable and reasonable, according to the reviews.

Slow Boot-up?

One common complaint that was noted in the reviews for the TV was the boot-up time.  Apparently, it is not ‘instant-on’, which some expected, but took a few moments to boot.  (The complainer said it ‘takes a second or so for the boot up’.)  In this instantaneous age that we live in, a second or two is unacceptable.  The only other common complaint was that it was difficult to speak with a Samsung customer service representative, if you had any questions.  It would be best to have all your questions answered before purchasing the TV, but the overall rating for the TV itself was consistently 4 and 5-stars.

Samsung Does It Again

Overall, the Samsung LN46D550 is a quality product, according to the overall reviews from owners of the HDTV.  With plenty of features and a great price, it will be a great addition to any home theater system.
